Grace smiled and nodded. "That's a good idea." She kissed him then picked up her phone and dialed Cynthea's number.

Cyn looks at her phone with a wide smile. "Grace, I was hoping you'd get some time to call while you're in town."

She grins. "Hi Cynthea. I've missed you."

"I've missed you too," Cynthea smiled. "Have you met someone handsome to keep you from calling till now or just been lounging in the sun?"

She looks over at Colin and grins "Both actually. I met a handsome Aussie and up until a few minutes ago we were lounging in the sun."

Cynthea laughs. "I knew it. You always have a way of finding good company. Yeah Jack and I were just looking at how ugly the weather is. Looks like a nasty storm coming in.

She glances at the television and nods. "Yes. That's why Colin and I came back to his apartment. It looks like the storm is actually a category 3 hurricane."

Shocked, Cynthea glanced at her husband. "Jack honey, that's not a storm that's a hurricane." She cradles the phone. "Grace, do you have some place safe to go?"

"That's one of the reasons I'm calling," She grinned softly. "My hotel and Colin's apartment are too close to the water. If you don't mind a couple of last minute house guests, I think we would be better off hiding out at your house for a while."

She heard Cynthea talking to Jack in the background.

"Of course you can Grace," Cynthea smiled. "Actually you can help us celebrate. We're on our way home from the base where we just got married."

"What? That's great! And fast. I had no idea you were engaged. Which one of you is as impatient as my sister?"

Cynthea laughed. "Actually we both are. We've only been engaged a few days but after talking to his parents we decided we couldn't wait."

"That's really great news. Congratulations, Cynthea."

"Thanks, I don't think I remember ever being this happy."

Grace smiled regretfully when the situation registered. "Oh Cynthea, it's your wedding night. You definitely don't need guests."

"And you're one of my best friends, Grace. I need you safe." Cynthea glanced at Jack in his uniform. She smiled softly as his fingers caressed her arm. "It's okay. I don't think this honeymoon is going to be over anytime soon."

"Cynthea, are you sure? We could find one of the shelters instead."

"I'm positive," She smiled. "We're closer than any of the shelters and I have a nice big bed in a spare room waiting for you."

Grace smiled then looked up and sighed as the lights began to flicker. "I think we're about to lose power."

"Okay then get your stuff together and get to my house. I'm pulling in the driveway. I think there's time to pull down the storm awnings."

"Alright, we'll be there in about a half hour."

Cynthea looked out at the darkening sky. "I'll be looking for you. Don't be much longer it's starting to move in fast."

Grace nodded. "We'll be there as soon as we can."

"I can't wait to see you and for you to meet Jack."

She grinned as she picked up her bag and slung it over her shoulder. "Tell Jack to expect a hug. I'll see you soon."

"I will you and your sweetie too. See you soon hun."

Grace hung up her phone then put it in her bag. She walked over to Colin and reached up to kiss him softly. "Cynthea and Jack are expecting us," She grinned. "Hopefully the storm will pass quickly and we won't have to impose on them for long. They just got married."

He helped her into the car and she watched him hurry around to the other side of the car and get into the driver's side. He gave her a reassuring smile before he started the car and pulled out onto the road.

Grace had noticed that Colin mentioned "our wedding night". She knew it only came out because they were about to intrude on Jack and Cynthea's wedding night. But she couldn't help but wonder for a moment if she and Colin could have a lasting future together. She hoped so. She didn't see him as "a little different" as he'd said earlier. Grace saw Colin as entirely different from her ex-husbands. When she first told him she loved him, it was like saying it for the first time and truly meaning it, feeling it completely.

Her attention was caught by a large branch falling from a tree near the road. The size of the branch and the sound it made as it crashed to the ground startled her for a moment. She looked over at Colin. He had both hands on the wheel trying to keep the car steady. The wind had become strong enough to push hard against the sides of the car. Grace set her hand on Colin's leg and pointed in the direction of the turn off for the street that led to Cynthea's house.

Rain poured on them as they ran up to the house. Grace held Colin's hand tight. It was windy and rainy but it was docile compared to the weather beating down on the Outer Banks. Grace still didn't like the idea of intruding on Cynthea and Jack. However, it seemed like a better alternative to a shelter.

They stepped up onto the porch, drenched, out of breath, and glad to be out of the rain. Grace knocked on the door and looked over at Colin. The first thought that crossed her mind was to get out of their cold, wet clothes and into a dry, warm bed.

Grace caressed Colin's cheek and smiled. "Yes." She was happy just to be alone with him again. She had to leave soon and didn't know how long it would be until she could come back. If Colin still wanted her to come back. Everything happened so fast for them, Grace hoped it wouldn't cool off just as quickly.

She held his hand as they drove through town. There were trees down, limbs and branches strewn everythere. Some of the roads were blocked off because of flooding. City trucks and workers were busy cleaning all of the damage left by the hurricane. Grace squeezed Colin's hand as she thought. She wondered how the garage and his apartment building had held up. "We should go by the garage on the way."

Grace took Colin's hand and kissed him softly once she'd stepped out of the car. She moved carefully over and around the trash and fallen branches. She watched Colin try the door but whoever was the last to leave had remembered to lock up even though the hurricane was closing in.

They peered into the large windows and saw that the lobby and the glass windows seperating it from the garage were still intact. But the rolling doors in the back of the garage appeared to be damaged. Grace moved over a bit as she tried to see better. The view wasn't better but she could hear the sounds of sweeping. She looked over at Colin. "I think someone's in the back."

Grace took Jasper's offered hand. "Hi Jasper, nice to meet you." She grinned softly as she looked at the smudge of grease on her palm. She tried not to be irritated by it. It's just grease. It'll wash off. Grace's sister had always nagged her about being so particular about her appearance, her clothes, her manicure. Even now, Grace was reluctant to know what kind damage her shoes were sustaining from the debris underfoot.

She watched Colin surveying the garage doors. She knew little about construction, but in their condition, she didn't believe the doors were going to be moved without being fixed or replaced. Grace saw the concern for the garage in Colin's eyes. A garage was just dirt, grease, and noise to her, but it was important to Colin. She wanted him to be happy.

While Colin and Jasper were deciding that they'd have to call in someone to cut up and remove the fallen tree from the driveway, Grace slipped inside the building. In the bathroom, she washed her hands then looked around the garage for a pair of gloves. She stepped back out and handed them to Colin then took the broom from Jasper and started sweeping where he had left off. "The phone lines are still working and two trucks just pulled up out front."

She smiled as she reached up to kiss him then spoke quietly in his ear. "I would love to take a shower with you." Grace smiled again then kissed his cheek. She caught a couple of the other men watching her kiss Colin. But she didn't care. She loved him, which was enough to drive her affection for him. Watching Colin work without a shirt had fueled far more than affection.

Grace was also tired. They had all been working for hours and she was aching for lunch, a shower, and a long nap. Looking around at the men working she was sure they were all thinking the same thing. She reached her hand into Colin's pocket and pulled out his keys. "I'm going to borrow your car, handsome. I think everyone could do with lunch. I'll be back in a few minutes."

A half hour later, Grace pulled up closer to the back then got out with a few bags. She handed a couple to Colin when he approached. "Sorry it took a little while," She grinned and kissed him quickly. "There was a delicatessen a block down that was open but they only had two girls working." Grace hefted out another bag from the back of the car then walked with Colin to the picnic table where he and the other men often had their lunch breaks. She opened one of the bags and began pulling out sub sandwiches and napkins.

His voice in her ear reminded Grace of Colin's singing to her at the top of the Ferris wheel. One of her favorite moments with him. She could listen to him sing everyday. Grace turned to gently kiss him and whisper back her own desires. "As soon as we're done here, you can nibble away all you like. I wonder if we'll make it to the apartment." She smiled and kissed him. Her thoughts filled with visions of being in the back seat of his car.

After the much needed break, Grace watched Colin and the other men finishing the last of cleaning around the garage. Grace picked up a few things inside that had fallen from the shelves. She was surprised when she reached for a tire and realized the rim was fake. A very good cardboard fake. She shook her head and grinned. Grace had never looked that close to the stacked tires on lobby floor. There was never much need to.

When she was finished, she stepped back outside and walked over to Colin. With a smile, she kissed his cheek. "Is everything all finished out here?"

Grace smiled as Colin's voice moved through her body. She was as hopelessly attracted to him as she was in love with him. Her hand slipped around his waist as she stepped closer to him. "I don't mind getting dirty as long as it's with you." Grace kissed him again. Soft, lingering and utterly suggestive of how much she craved his touch. "We'll help each other get clean and then we'll get dirty all over again. "
